off topic, why is it? that the majority of people in the world live in a society where the smartest have a say in nothing and the stupidest run everything?

Pssshh! Sure you use a girl with DS…what about those with disabilities we can see? My sister has Aspergers and my brother has dyslexia & ADD. Ya, think about how? many times they have been discriminated against…more than you prob think!! I think there should be a place on applications so that this doesn’t happen and people will understand their situation.

In the US with laws like ADA, Civil Rights Act 64, Disability discrimination is rampant. Most states are “right to work” states. Companies can fire you for anything – the color of your shirt. Many (not all) companies hide behind this “right to work” to protect them from EEOC (disability) legal action. Job performance does suffer when you have to do 4 chemo treatments a day, like? me. Cancer shouldn’t be a blank check, but most of my requests for Reasonable Accommodation – denied. What to do?

In the UK, they would ot be allowed to discriminate on the basis of sexuality, so discriminating against a heterosexual (let’s say) would be illegal. However, if it can be shown that? the job holder HAS to be a gay man, discrimination is allowed. To use another example, I believe that a care home for severely disabled female residents would be allowed to only employ female staff, considering the nature of the work.

I have no mental health problems that I know of but I was-and sometimes still am-seen as a nerd.? Discrimination hurts. Like they say, see the person, not the fact they understand how nuclear power works at 8(I’m 13 now)

I have Autism (HF), and I’ve experienced discrimination myself, that sometimes I had to resort to lying about myself just to get a job once. Once they found I had a disability, I’m gone, simple as that. Funny how society treats the disabled (both physically and mentally) like life’s speed bumps, that we just slow people down. I’m sure disabled people are just as capable, if not more, than able people to get the job? done since we have strong points. Don’t diss my/our ability/ties.

Youre MORE capable? Who’s? discriminating now?
